I have been playing golf for 25 years, joined Hockley Golf Club aged 15 and achieved my first handicap of 26, within a year i was down to 9 and 2 years later was playing off 4 and was picked for Hampshire Schools and Boys squads. I turned pro off 3 handicap aged 19 and worked at Royal Winchester for 4 years as an assistant, moving to Botley Park Golf Club in 1997 and working for Sky Sports Pundit and Golf World Teaching Professional Tim Barter.
After passing my exams i took over from Tim as Head Pro at Botley Park. I would have happily stayed there for many years but the management structure changed so i left. A brief spell at Southwood Golf Course saw me back in Southampton at the newly opened Hedge End Driving Range where i had decided to commit to a career in coaching, after a couple of years i was offered the teaching professionals position at Dibden Golf Centre but was made redundant just before christmas 2009.
I now find myself at Southampton City Golf Course and thoroughly enjoy every minute, the facilities are great and the people are very friendly. That's the thing i love about golf, the people you meet on a daily basis are terrific. I absolutely adore coaching and love the buzz i get from seeing people improve and get enjoyment from it too. I especially enjoy coaching juniors as they keep you young and on your toes and i can pass over some of my knowledge and experience gained over a quarter of a century of playing golf.
I have had some success playing in tournaments, most notably winning the Hampshire Matchplay Championship in 2000, i have played in many Open qualifying rounds, played in numerous pro ams, including one in Las Vegas. I still enjoy playing golf as it continually offers challenges to the mind and the body.
2010 Became Head Professional of Southampton Municipal Golf Club
