Ian is one of the leading Club Professionals in the UK and is an Advanced Member of the PGA. Originally from Co Durham Ian qualified as a PGA Professional at South Moor Golf Club before moving to Ravensworth Golf Club and then to Ireland to work at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, followed by a spell at Boca Lago Country Club in Florida. Further positions followed at Tralee Golf Club in Ireland and at the Berkshire Golf Club before becoming the resident Club Professional at Liphook Golf Club in 2003.

Ian loves the all round duties of a Club Professional including coaching players of all abilities, playing with members, administration, and is passionate about golf retail

We have an indoor swing studio featuring GASP video analysis, Flightscope launch monitor and Explanar swing trainer.

"My belief is that all golfing skills can be learned. We strive to help our pupils reach their own potential to gain greater enjoyment from playing golf. I truly believe that simple fundamentals are key to achieving lasting success"

I am currently planning a major overhaul of all my junior coaching (especially group classes). My aim is to deliver a system designed around LTAD (long term athletic development), teaching golf skills and most importantly being fun and creating a love of the game of golf.

This system will closely follow the TPI Junior programme, with their being 5 stages:-

  • Fundamentals
  • Learn to play
  • Train to play
  • Learn to compete
  • Train to compete

The first 2 stages will focus on suppleness, speed and skills, whilst in the third stage stamina will be introduced and in the final 2 stages power will be introduced.
